Project Manager

Position Summary:  The project manager will work with the estimator and other office personnel as well as field foreman and superintendents.  The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the technical and financial aspects of assigned projects. Working closely with owners, subcontractors, vendors, utility companies, and local federal and state agencies to ensure work is completed timely and within budget.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct multiple projects having large budgets with complex and extensive challenges.
  • Oversee billing and SOV formation.
  • Help generate monthly billings.
  • Manage the change order process including initial pricing of extra work with Estimator assistance.
  • Process RFI’s and submittals.
  • Identify equipment and manpower needs to forecast schedules.
  • Responsible for negotiating subcontracts, reviewing, and making recommendations for implementation.
  • Oversee the activities of the entire project team to ensure compliance with company policies and safety.
  • Mentor project engineers and coach less experienced employees in leadership and productivity.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft and Office 365 applications.
  • Experience with Project Manager software such as Pro Core, Bluebeam, True up, HCSS Heavy bid and HCSS Heavy Job.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Excellent time management skills and working with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Strong team player with the ability to cooperate with personnel across all departments.
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specs, survey theory and techniques.

Professional Experience & Education:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field and/or a combination of education and on the job experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil construction preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in grading, earthwork, underground utility practices, including contract documents, plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
  • Must have experience using HCSS Heavy Job, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
