Position Summary: The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field operations to ensure a project is completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications and regulations. Key duties include managing safety, cost control, schedule, quality, and site appearance, while coordinating closely with the Project Manager. The Superintendent also keeps the Project Manager informed of any changes affecting the project and reports to the General Superintendent.
Essential Responsibilities:
Planning & Estimating: Study plans, specifications, and cost estimates, understand scope, manpower, equipment, and production rates. Identify potential risks and cost-saving ideas.
Site Conditions: Assess existing job-site conditions, including utility locates, soil types, and staging areas. Take necessary photos and ensure proper site preparation.
Scheduling & Coordination: Collaborate on project schedule, understand critical path, and attend pre-construction meetings. Help develop site-specific safety plans and ensure compliance.
Subcontractors: Review subcontractor scopes and ensure they align with the project schedule.
Construction Execution: Oversee job-site logistics, manage manpower, equipment, and material deliveries, and maintain daily paperwork. Monitor timecards, record work quantities, document changes, and track project progress through photos and reports.
Safety: Set and enforce safety standards, ensure proper safety equipment, and conduct safety walks.
Communication & Meetings: Lead daily briefings, delegate responsibilities, conduct weekly meetings, and ensure clear communication with the Project Manager.
Quality Control: Ensure quality standards are met, manage the critical moments of quality, and address issues promptly.
Project Closeout: Complete punch list items, document work done, and oversee site clean-up during demobilization.
